The police confiscated 1,456 illegal cosmetic items because they did not have permission from a woman in Sampit, Central Kalimantan. Cosmetics were obtained by the perpetrator with the initials LS from Jakarta.
“LS is a housewife who lives in the Number 15 Bosanova Indah Housing complex, Jalan KH Dewantara, Baamang Tengah Village, Sampit,” said Kotawaringin Timur Police Chief AKBP Mohammad Rommel in Sampit as reported by Antara on Monday (1/28/2019).
He said, from LS’s hands, the police secured evidence of 63 types of products with a total of 1,456 illegal cosmetic items or did not have distribution permits. Based on the information of the suspect, the various items of cosmetics obtained from the Jakarta area were purchased by an online system.
“Cosmetics are resold online as well, and some buyers or customers buy by coming directly to the suspect’s house,” he said.
In front of the police, LS claimed to sell the cosmetics in the past two years. And there have been no complaints from customers.
“The suspect’s initial capital selling illegal cosmetics is Rp. 10 million. But now the turnover reaches hundreds of millions of rupiah,” explained Rommel.
Rommel further said, in the case, the suspect was charged with Article 197 of Republic of Indonesia Law Number 38 of 2009 concerning Health Article 106 paragraph (1) with a maximum imprisonment of 15 years and a maximum fine of Rp 1.5 billion.
