Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut B Pandjaitan held a coordination meeting with the Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya, Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya, and Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat in Jakarta, Monday (09/30/2019). During the meeting, Luhut ensured that the Komodo Island in the Komodo National Park Area, West Manggarai Regency, NTT, would not be closed. “So the Komodo Island is not closed, we will do the arrangement together with the central government and regional governments and related parties. “The rules for limiting the number of tourists to Komodo Island are made with a visit / tourist capacity ticket,” Luhut said in an official statement received by Kompas.com on Monday night.

Ticket management is done with a premium annual membership card system. For premium membership it will be directed to Komodo Island directly where large komodo dragons are there. Meanwhile, those who do not have a premium card will be directed to other locations with Komodo dragons as well. “Later they (non-premium) will be directed to small dragons such as on the island of Rinca. So they can only be there, nowhere else to go, “Luhut said.

Regarding the management of this Komodo Island, Deputy for Infrastructure Ridwan Djamaluddin, who also participated in the meeting added, will also be built the Komodo Research Center on Komodo Island and the arrangement of cruise ships to Komodo Island and Labuan Bajo.
